The importance of pictures

After our week this week, I spent some time looking through the pictures we have of our dog Abby. I was so glad that I could pull out a few and give them to Dolly to put in her room. It got me to thinking that pictures of every part of our lives are so very important. Having those pictures had made it easier for Dolly to deal with our loss. A pet is by no means as important as the people in our lives, but they are still a part of our family.
That is why this morning when I was out playing in the snow I took some pictures of Daisy for Dolly. I am going to print them so that she can put them in her room with the ones of Abby.
If you have a pet that is a part of your family, don’t forget to take some pictures of them. They are so much a part of our memories.

Sweet sweet baby to come

Mrs. H gets more and more beautiful every time she is out to the studio.

The last time she was here for maternity photos I saw her mom in the store the following morning to learn she had surprised us all and had Miss P!

I am so excited for her and her family to have baby number four join them this coming spring.

Wishing you a safe and speedy delivery Mrs.H!!

{hugs}

Recognition of Merit

This morning I opened my email to  the news that the winners had been announced for the International Image Competition recently held by the National Association of Professional Child Photographers.
I am so pleased to share with you that one of my images has received a Recognition of Merit in the Children’s Category. There are some amazing photographers who submitted their images, making the competition very stiff! I am so proud of my image of Dolly and Cleveland placing amongst the winning images. To see all of the winning images visit the NAPCP Image Gallery

Emerge Workshop Attendee Update and New Class Registration

Today marks the close of the Emerge online workshop. Over the past few months class attendees have grown together in their photographic skills, made friendships and some even made personal discoveries.
I want to thank all of the ladies who enrolled. It was such a pleasure to watch all of you post your photos and to see you develop through the course of the class.
I have asked the ladies to share some of their photos with you, and to share a bit about the class.

The Emerge Workshop taught me so much about how to make my camera work for me and how to capture inspiring shots.  Nicole really brought out my inner creativity that was long forgotten and showed me how to apply it to photography.  I really enjoyed this workshop and learned so much.  Thanks Nicole for your insights and wisdom!
I recently participated in the Rusted Ruffle’s Emerge workshop. My obvious intent was to become a better photographer and “head memory keeper”
I opened the “week one” lesson with great anticipation. I was expecting to find “Intro to f-stops” or “A Lesson on Light” but the lesson was “Define Yourself” ??
I thought to myself,”What does this have to do with anything?”
As I worked through the assignments, I learned so much about who I am and that I have a style. I am fifty years old and am just discovering that I HAVE A STYLE. I have bought a pile of clothes that I love, bags of jewelery that I love. I now have an Etsy account. I ordered a cuff for a hundred and thirty bucks because it spoke to me. (giddy laugh) My husband calls me a gypsy ’cause I jingle. I got a hair cut. Dressing me….taking care of me. I made a doctor appointment, a dentist appointment, started a fitness program and started writing again. I am worth taking care of. I have value.
I have Emerged and by the way, I am also a better photographer.

The next Emerge workshop starts June 4, 2012.

This class is for you if you want to find what your style is, be more creative and take better images. It is perfect for small business owners who want to showcase beautiful product shots.

You do not need to be an accomplished photographer to take this class.

You will emerge more confident, more creative and a better photographer.

This workshop is meant to be an empowering and creative experience, helping you to understand your camera and how to use it to it’s full potential.

We will use photography to help you, as you awaken your inner self, finding the creativity you hold within.
