Dolly is in seventh heaven right now. She has talked non-stop today about her date with Lux yesterday. She is so very anxious for him to come home to her house…and it was very hard for her to understand that he couldn’t come home with us last night. ( after all if you have seen “the greening of Whitney Brown, they put a Gypsy Cob in the backseat of a car!)

Before Dolly got her turn on her new horse, North Fork Gypsy Cobs’ trainer, Wendy Walker, gave him a quick little ride. He was such a good boy, and was very happy for some well deserved praise and attention after.

Dolly up in the saddle, convincing Wendy that she should trot on Lux before she goes home.

Thank you for being such a good boy Lux!

Out in the pasture after Dolly rode we spent some time watching Lux playing…and getting his very clean self dirty.

If you had been in our house for the past month you would know that tomorrow is a huge day for Dolly.
I do not know of a five year old who has been so wrapped up, enthralled with and excited for a visit to Saskatoon like Dolly is. You may be wondering why on earth Dolly would be excited about going to Saskatoon for. Wellll….let me tell you that “her boy” lives there.(before you raise your eyebrows at me for allowing my young daughter to be so wrapped up in a boy, finish reading this post)

It all started last fall when I was showing Dolly some of my favorite horses on Pinterest. I have admired them from a far, knowing that a horse for Dolly would be the next purchase I made of the four legged kind. She was just as enamored with them as I was. She can tell you all about “feathers” and “gypsy gold”. She even knows what a vardo is.

While shopping she picks out horses with spots, markings of a paint or of a heavy build. Wouldn’t you know it that while making a trip to the UFA we found horses that suited her hearts desire! She has played with that little horse family every day since finding them.
This week has been a long one for Dolly. She has counted the sleeps until Friday, reminding me EVERYDAY how many remain. Yesterday she held up two fingers and emphatically exclaimed “TWO MORE SLEEPS MOMMA!!”

Today she has mentioned many times that tomorrow is the day…and tonight when I went into her room to pack her goodie bag for the trip I was greeted by this…

That’s right, her little horse family, out and ready to go into the trailer. How could I have not known that she would take her beloved Gypsy Cob family to go with her to meet Lux???

I have put them in her bag, along with the pamphlet that holds the picture of Lux and the laptop, complete with freshly charged batteries and “The Greening of Whitney Brown” downloaded on iTunes.

You can count on my bag holding my camera, batteries charged and cards empty, ready to catch every single moment. Some mother’s cry at the site of the school bus…I am not one. I do know that I will most likely be a puddle of mush watching Dolly as she sets her eyes on Lux for the first time. He is her boy, and I just know she will be his girl.

*To find out more about the Gypsy Cob breed, visit North Fork Gypsy Cobs.

Dolly has a friend named Buddy.
She loves collecting worms for him and feeding them to him.
It is a memory that I wanted to have documented with pictures for her.
So I went out to the hen house tonight while she was digging for worms and brought my camera with me.
I got to thinking after I was there, that this is one of Dolly’s life stories.
I took a bit of video as well.
I love the feeling of being there that the life stories give you while you are watching them…and I am sure Dolly will when she is older as well!
If you are interested in learning how to create your own life stories, don’t miss out on our online course!
You can find out more info in the menu bar at the top of the page under e-courses.

This morning I was up early, like I am most mornings, sitting and enjoying a cup of coffee. That first hour that I am up is my photo time. I wander around my yard aimlessly looking for something I never noticed yesterday.
This morning I was able to venture down to the pond as Raceboy82 was here to watch Dolly. Daisy and I sat watching the ducks swimming and I decided today was the day to share some info on our upcoming photo walks.
We will be hosting early morning walks as well as evening walks here at the studio. If you have never been to the studio, we are located on a half section of native prairie pasture. Walk through the wooded trails and see amazing wildflowers, wildlife (including deer, moose and elk), and countless birds. For flower enthusiasts we also have flower gardens full of beautiful plants. And of course, I cannot forget about our ever expanding farm animals.(various exotic chicken breeds, sheep and horses…and if I know Mama Temp and myself, we will soon have more! lol). This is an excellent opportunity for hobby photographers to expand their portfolio and enjoy nature at its best. If you are interested in signing up for the photowalk please fill in the form at the bottom of this post.

Daisy, sitting on the end of the pier, watching the ducks as they swim around. It was so foggy and misty after the rain we had last night.

The first web I have seen this spring. I am amazed by nature and the things we take for granted everyday, like the complexity of a web for a little spider to build with such ease.

As pretty as it may seem, these water drops were mostly frozen. Some of the flowers were frozen through and had turned opaque in the night.

I can honestly say that I have never had such a sleepy baby in the studio. Miss A slept through her whole session until it was time to wake up to feed. We were pretty much finished by that point. I was in disbelief when I got to thinking about it after.
