back online…but away for a few days

It all started Saturday morning…I made coffee and headed to the office to start up my computer. Right away I noticed I had no internet connection.  I tried to get it fixed but could not figure it out. I had planned on loading galleries and sneak peeks before the kids all awoke from their slumber. I spent the majority of the morning fusing with it and decided to leave it until Monday morning. I was busy getting my camera ready for my afternoon shoot when I heard a commotion from outside. It was the boys and from the panic in their voices I knew it was bad. I grabbed the cordless and headed out the door. I met Raceboy83 halfway across the yard. His face was the whitest I think I have ever seen it. I know he was talking to me but I was so intent on focusing on Raceboy82 that I do not remember what he said. Their fears and mine were confirmed when I got close enough to see. His arm was broken and he was in need of an ambulance. It was deja vu for the three of us. Raceboy82 has done this before…only on the other arm. He knew what was to come and was trying to be so brave. I am so proud of my little trooper. We are home from the city today. I can reaffirm my belief that the Stollery is the most wonderful hospital in Alberta. If you are ever there ( and I hope you never are! ) you can be confident in the care your child will receive. Raceboy82 may now be known as Wolverine, he has 2 rods from wrist to elbow from this latest incident. I asked the surgeon if I should be concerned about this boy and his bones. He looked at me from over the top of his glasses and replied “No mom, his bones are healthy as can be, I am afraid it is the activity level and the choices he makes”. Whew, that’s a relief…I think?!?

Raceboy82 wants to thanks everyone for their prayers and well wishes, the Vermilion Ambulance for their speedy arrival and his safe delivery to the city, the Vermilion Hospital staff as well as the staff from his stay in the Stollery for their kindness and wonderful care.

I will be replying to my emails and getting to those galleries and sneak peeks later this week. Thanks for you patience and understanding.

Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

When I was little my mom had a figurine of Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler. Scarlet was standing on a staircase and looking down at Rhett.  I loved it…I think because it encouraged one to use their imagination. It was so romantic! I never saw the movie until I was much older but Miss M reminds me of Scarlett in the figurine so much in these images. Thankfully she doesn’t behave like her!

c family | wainwright family photographer

As we were walking around the yard I was thinking how small town living is the best. Everyone is connected in some way or another.  “D’s” dad dug my basement. “L” is the go to gal for Stampin Up. I was also thinking how excited I was for this session. You see when I started Crimson Chickadee Photography this beautiful little family was my very first session. Here is a little then…

and now…

R family| Wainwright family photographer

First before I start this post I have to show you what I will call an outtake from this session…

d_d-519

How many adults do you know that would sit so calmly and wait for the beasty to go on his merry way! I was impressed…especially since I was one of those adults NOT sitting calmly!

Okay…on with the show…

I love when the kids crawl out of the vehicle and have a look around. They all do the same thing…they notice the trampoline, the atv’s and they all ask to go see the horses. I am not ashamed to say that I use the horses as blatant bribery. They come last after the session is over and everyone has sat nicely for mom and dad. I do not think I even THOUGHT about needing to do that with these kiddos. They were so full of life and so much fun to photograph! We did however go and give my four legged family some treats…after all they have come to expect it every evening when that vehicle full of kids rolls down the lane. ( and what those kids don’t know is that the horses nicker continuously  at them as they pass by…pleading, please we like oats, and mom has a whole bunch in the shed…if you ask her maybe she will give us some)

It is my favorite season and this year it seems like September has been our best month for summer weather.  I have had a whirlwind of family sessions in the last week and I was looking forward to this maternity session. I have had the pumpkin up my sleeve since December last year!

And take a good look at mom…she is due October 7!  I can’t wait for our newborn session…teeny tiny babies are soooo sweet!

I think little girls are so darling…and when miss c got out of the van I thought she was adorable! She was so timid. Not for long though…all it took was a few moments with Cleveland and she was ready for our adventure…I think Cleveland was quite smitten with her. I love this picture, isn’t it what every little girl dreams of ?!?s_family-20

And when miss m sat down to play her guitar I was very impressed with her playing. She has a wonderful gift! But more than that she is such a good big sister! Miss c is very fortunate!  Enjoy your sneak peaks!

three’s company

I had so much fun with these three darlings. After their session was over and I was picking which photos to show them for their sneak peak I got to thinking how awesome my job is. I feel so blessed to be able to say there is rarely a time when I don’t love every minute of it! Take my time with these adorable siblings…I got to giggle with Mr. T, watch with amusement as the girls were enthralled with my large dogs and to secretly chuckle when their eyes got as huge as saucers when I told them Sebastien loves to crawl up on the bed and cuddle at night. I saw the girls go from being so shy that they could barley look at the camera to them laughing and chatting up a storm with me before they left, but most of all I have the privilege of taking all those things I saw and preserving them forever. To me it is worth so much to know that when they are all my age they will be able to look at their images and smile…they may not be able to remember being here but the joy they see  in their pictures is sure to evoke warm and happy childhood memories. There can never be anything more satisfying than that.
